Take Honours at Ballinasloe Credit Union Quiz

Ballinasloe Credit Union recently held the first stage of the 2010 Credit Union primary schools quiz in Scoil an Chroi Naofa hall. This is the 19th successive year that Ballinasloe Credit Union has run the quiz, which has enjoyed increased popularity in recent years. The quiz is unique in that Credit Unions from all over the 32 counties participate each year in making this a nation-wide event.

Two competitions are held on the night, one for children under 11 years of age and one for children between 11-13. This year over 150 children representing 13 primary schools in the locality took part in the quiz. The winning team in each category will now go forward and represent Ballinasloe Credit Union at the Chapter Table quiz, which will take place in Moate on Friday the 5th of March.

Following close contests in both the Under 11 and 11-13 categories Scoil Ui Cheithearnaigh Ballinasloe the under 11 category and Scoil Muire Gan Smal, Creagh Ballinasloe were victorious in the 11 – 13 category.

William Duthie of Ballinasloe Credit Union presented the prizewinners with trophies & LETS (Ballinasloe Local Currency). The quizmaster on the night was Mr Tom Lucas Board Director of B.C.U. The winning school in each category also received LETS to the value of 200 Euro
